Ricardo Chavez
Founder & CEO
When I was 14, my mother was severely injured in an encounter with San Francisco police with injuries serious enough to
keep her hospitalized for months. It very nearly went unheard: the only reason she was able to hold anyone accountable
was that a local news crew happened to catch it on camera. That's the gap OurLegalEye closes. Evidence shouldn't depend
on whether a camera crew happened to be nearby. Anyone should be able to document what's happening to them, and know
it's secure and reaches someone who can act on it.

One word, Accountability. That’s it.
Kaitlyn Ashby
Founding Engineer and Senior Technical Advisor
One of the first conversations I had with Ricardo was about how, in today's world, civilians need tools like this to
protect themselves and hold people accountable more than ever. I was finishing my Computer Science and Philosophy degree
at San Francisco State and interning at an AI startup here in the city, between my coursework and that team, I learned
as much about building something that makes a real difference as I did about the technical work itself. After meeting
the rest of the team, I knew I wanted to bring that to OurLegalEye: shaping our technical direction and architecture,
keeping the team moving as one as we build, and getting in front of the people who'll actually need it.
